It's time to celebrate!
This week our team hit the lake to celebrate all that God has done this quarter. Here are the highlights:
Here's a shout-out to TWR Americas Marcom Team for the fantastic work they did to not only launch our new website, but give us our new look. Intern, Josiah Pierce, created our logo. Jeanine Klingbeil and Nicole Hughes developed our printed materials. Jon Hill crafted the text. Leila Coblentz managed the website development process. And my daughter, Adelyn Boling, shot the pictures that informed our branding process. Thank you all so much!
We've added new members to our team.
- Frank Strider joins us as Operations Director and boat driver. Frank has over 30 years in the corporate world, and we are thrilled to have him on the team. He and his wife, Suzanne hosted the team on their pontoon boat. Thanks, Frank and Suzanne!
- Kate McVey is our newest team member and is serving as our Marcom Coordinator. Her specialty is video, but she is learning the ropes of social media, Google Analytics, and more! And, Kate just got engaged this past weekend! Congratulations, Kate!
- Jessica Hughey joins us as the Leadership and Training Coordinator. Jess has her master's degree in education and has spent summers counseling girls who have been rescued from sex slavery. Jessica is the mother of a precious little girl, Emily, and she and her husband have recently submitted papers to adopt a child from Burundi. So glad to have you with us!
Frank, Kate, and Jess, we are thrilled to welcome you aboard! Would you like to learn more about all of our team members? Click here!
Martha is a treasure! We first connected on a wild ride through Washington D.C. in 2015. But the wild ride didn't stop there. We've been stopped by police outside of Chongwe, had a minor "incident" in Lusaka, shot video footage roadside between Lusaka and Livingstone, and gotten stuck in the mud on the way to Makumba.
Martha has worked with us as a consultant, trip coordinator, and ministry leader, particularly developing the ministry model in Zambia, leading training workshops, and working with Jessica to write the field guide. Martha, we are grateful for all that you've given to RiverCross, and I'm particularly grateful for your friendship.
Martha is returning to the Every Orphan's Hope staff as the Senior Advisor of Program Development. And while we will miss having her all to ourself, we are thrilled for both EOH and Martha. And it's good for RiverCross as well. Since EOH is one of our closest partners, we will continue to work together.
Evening with RiverCross
Two weeks ago we held our first "major" event with 69 people in attendance. Presenters included our writer, Kathy Buchanan, who flew in from Colorado Springs, spoke with Heather Faucette on the mission of RiverCross. And Steve Noble of Called2Action Radio interviewed me addressing some of our most frequently asked questions. Steve Hippe and Barbara Shantz teamed up to present the businesss side of the ministry. And Morgan and Doug Morgan shared from their hearts why they are deeply involved in the ministry and invited others to join them.
A matching gift of $5,000 was presented, and in that night alone, close to $15,000 was pledged bringing the total to $20,000 for the evening. We are so thankful!
But giving is not the only way that people are getting involved. Twenty-six couples or individuals would like to be engaged by praying, advocating, collaborating, and/or serving. To find out more about how you can get involved, click here.
In addition to our presenters, we had a fabulous team of volunteers. Thank you so much to David and Brenda Blackwood, Chris and Ann Dillon, Bill Finley, Megan Gardner, Courtney Woodfin, Laura Vann, Amy Newton, Jessica Hughey, Seth and Adelyn Boling, Matt Faucette, Naren Hollinger, Marvin Heath, Patti Beckett, and the RC Team who made it possible!
If you would like to host or attend a future RC event, please contact Heather Faucette, our Champion Development Coordinator, by clicking on this link.
We would have loved to have you on the lake with us to celebrate! But, since that wasn't possible, woud you join us in thanking God for all he is doing through RiverCross to build bridges of hope for the children? It's time to celebrate!
