On the Christmas morning that I turned 10, my mom sent me out to the car to get something out of the trunk. I took the keys and headed out to the driveway.
I opened the hatch and there was a 10-speed bicycle! This was a big deal. My mom was a single mom and a teacher. Getting that bike was no small thing.
Without a moment's hesitation, I pulled that bike out of the trunk and took off. My mom watched, delighted that her daughter was finding so much joy in this gift.
What would it have been like if I had closed the trunk and said, "I don't deserve this bike." Or, "I can't ride the bike. That would be too much fun." What if I had left the bike in the trunk?
But isn't that what we do sometimes with the gifts God gives us? We leave them in the trunk.
If you have a passion for orphans and vulnerable children and have a bike or two in the trunk, let’s talk about finding your fit.
And let’s get your bike out of the trunk!
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace. 1 Peter 4:10
